Okultasi adalah suatu peristiwa yang terjadi ketika satu benda tersembunyi oleh benda lain yang lewat di antara pengamat. Okultasi Venus, adalah saat dimana planet Venus akan tertutup oleh Bulan. Fenomena ini akan terjadi pada Ahad, 16 Mei 2010 ini menjelang dan setelah Matahari terbenam di ufuk Barat. Okultasi Venus ini adalah peristiwa yang sangat jarang terjadi, bisa-bisa seumur hidup kita hanya bisa melihatnya sekali.
Okultasi, Transit dan Gerhana.
Okultasi adalah peristiwa dimana benda A tertutup oleh gerakan benda B yang berada di antara benda A dan pengamat. Contoh Okultasi planet Venus oleh Bulan pada 16 Mei 2010 ini, sehingga kenampakan planet Venus menjadi hilang karena tertutup oleh Bulan.
Transit adalah kebalikan dari Okultasi. Transit terjadi bila ada benda kecil yang lebih dekat dengan pengamat melintasi benda lain yang lebih besar namun lebih jauh, seperti transit Merkurius atau Venus saat melintasi piringan Matahari.
Gerhana adalah peristiwa bergeraknya benda melintasi bayangan benda lain. Contoh ketika Bumi melintasi bayangan Bulan saat terjadi gerhana Matahari (istilah yg sebenarnya salah). Gerhana Matahari sebenarnya adalah Okultasi Matahari oleh Bulan. Masing-masing tiga peristiwa adalah efek yang nampak dari sebuah syzygy.

This phenomenon will occur on Sunday , May 16, 2010 ahead of and after sunset in the western horizon . Venus occultation is an event that is extremely rare, can be life-long - we can only see it once .
Occultation , Transit and Eclipse .
Occultation is an event where the object A is closed by movement of the object B is in between A and observer objects . Examples of the occultation of Venus by the Moon on May 16, 2010 , so the appearance of the planet Venus is lost as it is covered by the Moon .
Transit is the opposite of the occultation . Transit occurs when there is a small object that is closer to the observer crosses other objects larger but more distant , such as the transit of Mercury or Venus as it crosses the disc of the Sun.
Eclipse is an event object moves across the shadow of another object . Examples of when the Earth crosses the shadow of the Moon during an eclipse of the sun ( which is actually the wrong term ) . The solar eclipse is an occultation is actually the Sun by the Moon . Each of these three events is the visible effect of a Syzygy .
