menghubungkan suatu daerah ke daerah lain. tapi yang satu ini sangat
unik jembatan ini tidak di bangun oleh manusia melainkan dia tumbuh dan
berkembang layaknya seorang manusia yang tumbuh dewasa.. penasaran kan

unik ini tumbuh dari akar-akar pohon karet, orang-orang Khasis di
Cherrapunjee menggunakan batang pohon pinang, membelahnya dan
mengeluarkan isinya untuk membuat apa yang disebut “penunjuk akar”. Saat
dibentangkan dan mencapai sisi pinggir sungai lainnya, mereka mulai
menyatukannya dengan akar-akar dari tanah. Dengan berjalannya waktu,
jembatan yang kokoh dan hidup mulai terbentuk.
Jembatan-jembatan akar itu beberapa di anatarnya mencapai 30 meter, membutuhkan waktu 10 hingga 15 tahun untuk bisa difungsikan penuh, dan menjadikannya sangat kokoh. Beberapa sanggup menahan beban hingga 50 orang sekaligus.

jembatan-jembatan ini hidup dan masih terus tumbuh, membuatnya semakin
kokoh saja. Beberapa jembatan akar yang tua sudah digunakan tiap hari
oleh orang-orang desa di sekitar Cherrapunjee sejak lebih dari 500 tahun
yang lalu.
2. Jembatan Tanaman Merambat di Lembah Iya, Jepang
Salah
satu dari tiga lembah-lembah “tersembunyi”, di Jepang, West Iya
merupakan tempatnya ngarai berkabut, sungai bersih, dan atap-atap jerami
atau daun, seperti menggambarkan Jepang berabad yang lalu. Untuk
menyeberangi sungai Iya yang mengalir di sepanjang lereng lembah, para
perampok, para kstria, dan pengungsi membuat sebuah jembatan khusus yang
dibuat dari tanaman merambat.
Pertama,
dua tanaman Wisteria – salah satu tanaman merambat paling kokoh –
ditanam hingga sangat panjang dari kedua sisi sungai. Saat tanaman itu

menyeberanginya pertama kali seringkali membeku di tempat, tidak mampu
melanjutkan lebih jauh lagi.

Inilah dia objek wisata andalan Kabupaten Pesisir Selatan yang merupakan salah satu jembatan yang terunik di dunia.jembatan yang kuat dan menjadi penghubung dua daerah antara Jorong (Dusun) Puluik-Puluik dan Lubuak Silau, Desa Lubuak Silau, Kecamatan Bayang Utara, Kabupaten Pesisir Selatan, Sumatra Barat.
Dari
informasi yang berhasil dirangkum salah seorang tokoh masyarakat
sekaligus ketua pemuda Pulik-puluik, Herman Datuak Rajo Bandaro,
jembatan tersebut dibuat karena seorang ulama yang bernama Pakih Sokan
kasihan melihat murid-murid mengajinya dari Pulik-puluik sering tidak
datang karena aliran batang bayang kerap meluap.
Pada
tahun 1916 Pakih Pohan menanam dua batang jawi-jawi (sejenis pohon
beringin yang berdaun lebar), pohon jawi-jawi tersebut ditanam di dua
lokasi satu di daerah Pulik-puluik dan satu lagi di daerah Lubuak Silau
yang dipisahkan dengan batang bayang. Lalu akarnya yang bergantungan
dijalin di batang bambu yang dijadikan jembatan sebagai tulang jembatan
akar. Setelah 3 tahun lamanya akar dua pohon jawi-jawi tersebut bertaut
namun belum bisa dilalui. Kemudian Pakih Pohan mengadakan acara
mandabiah kambing (potong kambing) dan mandarai aka (memberikan darah
pada akar yang bertaut tersebut). “Ini sebagai tanda syukuran bahwa akar
jawi-jawi yang dihubungkan sudah bertaut, sebagai tanda akan terjadi
pertautan kembali,” tambah Herman.
Untuk
menjadikan sebuah jembatan yang bisa dilalui membutuhkan waktu selama
20 tahun maka jembatan tersebut bisa ditempuh warga Puluik-puluik yang
hendak mau ke Lubuak Silau.
Sampai
sekarang jembatan tersebut berukuran panjang 30 meter dan lebar 1 meter
dengan ketinggian dari permukaan batang bayang sekitar 10 meter dan
saat ini umur jembatan tersebut sudah 93 tahun dan masih bisa dilalui
warga dari daerah Pulik-puluik sebanyak 25 kepala keluarga begitu juga
warga yang hendak kedaerah Pulik-puluik.
