Eleven-point-six percent of the adult population are affected by the disease.
A scientific survey has estimated that China has
the highest number of diabetics in the world, with nearly
a-hundred-and-fourteen million adults living with the disease.
The study, published in the Journal
of the American Medical Association, estimates that the disease affects
eleven-point-six percent of the adult population - a higher percentage
than that in the United States.
The study, which is based on data collected in 2010, says that changing diet and lifestyles in China are to blame.
