Rumah ini benar-benar luar biasa. Bukan hanya karena usianya yang telah 103 tahun tapi juga karena didirikan di tengah laut. Konon rumah ini telah berdiri sejak 1905, tepatnya di atas bebatuan Rhode Island yang ada di tengah laut. Rumah itu kerap disebut Clingstone. Rumah ini cukup besar dan tergolong nyaman. Rumah tersebut dibangun oleh JS Lovering Wharton dengan biaya 36.000 dolar , sepupu jauh Henry Wood (79), yang kini menjadi pemiliknya.
Henry Wood membelinya dengan mantan istrinya pada tahun 1961 seharga 3600 dolar AS. Kemudian dia renovasi dan kini menjadi manson yang menarik dan nyaman dan telah didiami selama dua dasawarsa lebih. Ini memang penemun Wood yang luar biasa. Bayangkan rumah itu memiliki 23 kamar, dan Wood tetap mempertahankan arsitektur kamar dan settingannya seperti 100 tahun lalu. Setiap tahun, pada hari raya tertentu, Wood dan keluarganya mengundang puluhan teman-temannya untuk berlibur di tempat mereka.
Rumah itu memang sangat besar, karenanya membutuhkan banyak orang untuk bisa membersihkannya. Maklum saja, Wood dan keluarganya tidak setiap hari tinggal di sana. Mereka hanya menggunakan manson itu untuk tempat berlibur. Jadi ketika mereka datang, hal yang pertama harus dilakukan adalah, bekerja keras membuat tempat itu kinclong kembali.
Namun para relawan, teman-teman Wood, tentu saja dengan suka rela membantu membersihkannya. Mereka mengaggap itu kegiatan menarik pengisi liburan. Wood dan keluarga serta teman-temannya hanya datang ke sana ketika musim panas. Biasanya selama sepekan mereka menghabiskan masa libur. Sementara di musim dingin, manson besar itu sunyi dan sepi. Boat mereka tetap aman di simpan di dok terapung dekat James Town Boatyard.
