Elaine sekarang sangat tergantung pada bantuan Rosa untuk merawatnya.
"Dia biasanya nangis kalau saya tidak ada," kata Rosa sambil menggendong bayi orangutan itu. "Jadi, saya harus selalu dekat dengannya."
Elaine adalah satu dari dua ekor bayi orangutan yang diselamatkan dari perkebunan kelapa sawit dalam beberapa bulan terakhir dan dibawa ke Pusat Perlindungan Samboja Lestari di Kalimantan Timur.
Manajer Samboja Lestari Ascheta Bastuni Tajuddin mengatakan dua bayi orangutan ini sakit saat pertama kali dibawa ke pusat perlindungan itu.
"Dua bayi orangutan, Elaine dan Mads sangat stres. Satu terkena diare dan satu lagi deman karena stres," kata Ascheta.
"Sebagian besar orangutan yang ada di sini adalah hasil sitaan dari rumah-rumah penduduk namun belakangan ini ada beberapa yang kami selamatkan karena terpisah dari induknya, yang mati karena dibunuh atau lari karena dikejar di kebun kelapa sawit."

Kalimantan Timur.

Saya bertolak ke Kalimantan Timur, ke kawasan yang diduga terjadi pembunuhan orangutan.
Dalam perjalanan, saya terkejut melihat begitu banyak lahan yang diubah menjadi perkebunan kelapa sawit.
"Sekitar 10 tahun lalu, kawasan ini adalah hutan," kata Rudi, pengemudi yang membawa kami ke kawasan ini.
Sepanjang perjalanan, kondisi di kawasan ini cukup memprihatinkan karena kawasan hutan yang tampak hanya sedikit.
Perluasan perkebunan sawit dan tambang batu bara di kawasan hutan Kalimantan Timur menyebabkan konsekuensi tragis bagi orangutan.
Saya sempat bertemu dengan sejumlah pekerja di perkebunan sawit. Pada awalnya mereka ragu-ragu untuk berbicara.
Namun, seorang di antara mereka, Ronal mengatakan ia mengetahui tentang kematian orangutan itu.
"Sejumlah pekerja melihat ada orangutan di perkebunan, dan perusahaan membayar US$100 untuk satu ekor. Saya tidak tahu apa yang dilakukan perusahaan terhadap binatang itu, namun mereka menganggap orangutan sebagai hama," kata Ronal.
Perusahaan-perusahaan sawit mengatakan mereka tidak bersalah.
Namun kelompok pegiat lingkungan mengatakan dampaknya akan sangat terasa bila pembunuhan terhadap orangutan tidak dihentikan.
"Orangutan yang hidup liar mungkin akan punah dalam waktu lima tahun," kata Arfiana Khairunnisa, dari Pusat Perlindungan Orangutan, Centre for Orangutan Protection di Kalimantan Timur.
"Kami temukan kasus ini di kawasan perkebunan dan orangutan dianggap hama karena mereka memakan buah sawit. Orangutan dilindungi berdasarkan hukum di Indonesia, jadi langkah ini melanggar hukum," tambahnya.
Sekitar 90% populasi orangutan terdapat di Indonesia.
Pemerintah Indonesia mengatakan tetap melindungi orangutan namun sejumlah pihak mempertanyakan mengapa perusahaan sawit diizinkan memperluas lahan di habitat orangutan.
Dalam perjalanan di Kalimantan Timur, kami sempat melihat orangutan.
"Lihat, ada orangutan di jalan!" kata supir kami Rudi yang merem kendaraan secara tiba-tiba.
Orangutan dewasa itu sempat berhenti dan berjalan lagi menuju hutan di seputar.
Pemandu kami, Mike mengatakan sangat jarang dapat menyaksikan orangutan di kawasan itu.
"Kawasan ini berada di dekat tempat terjadinya dugaan pembunuhan orangutan. Ia bisa jadi korban berikutnya," kata Mike.
