Daisy Morris gemar mengoleksi tulang, gigi dan tengkorak kepala dinosaurus.

Daisy Morris, seorang bocah perempuan berusia sembilan tahun dari Isle of Wight, Inggris mendapat kehormatan setelah namanya dijadikan bagian dari nama fosil dinosaurus.

Tulisan ilmiah yang dikeluarkan oleh kalangan ilmuwan menyatakan temuan fosil dinosaurus baru dari spesies pterosaurus akan diberi nama ilmiah Vectidraco daisymorrisae.

Daisy dinilai berjasa menemukan fosil dinosurus yang belum pernah diteliti sebelumnya ini sekitar empat tahun lalu di pantai Atherfield.
Ahli fosil, Martin Simpson mengatakan peristiwa ini merupakan contoh bagaimana sebuah temuan besar bisa dilakukan oleh seorang amatir.
Sebelumnya keluarga Morris sesaat setelah penemuan fosil itu telah melaporkannya kepada Simpson yang bertugas di Universitas Southampton pada tahun 2009.
"Saya tahu saya sedang melihat sesuatu yang sangat spesial. Dan Saya benar," kata Simpson.

Terancam hilang

Kajian mendalam belakangan memang mengatakan bahwa fosil itu merupakan jenis dan spesies baru dari pterosaurus kecil- seekor reptil terbang yang hidup 115 juta tahun lalu di jaman kapur awal.
Spesies dan nama baru fosil itu telah dikonfirmasi dalam kajian ilmiah yang diterbitkan pada hari Senin.
Fosil Pterosaurus saat ini telah disumbangkan kepada Museum Sejarah Nasional yang baru-baru ini menyebut Isle of Wright sebagai ibukota dinosaurus di Inggris.
Orang tua Daisy mengatakan fosil yang mereka temukan terancam hilang dan rusak akibat kondisi alam sekitar lokasi penemuan.
Dia bersyukur Daisy berhasil menemukan fosil dinosaurus tersebut.
