Di sejumlah negara bagian di Argentina, suhu melebihi 45 Celcius.

Sedikitnya tujuh orang tewas di Argentina akibat gelombang panas yang menerpa sebagian wilayah negara itu dalam sepekan ini, kata seorang pejabat Argentina.

Suhu panas makin diperparah oleh kebijakan pemadaman listrik untuk mencegah warga berduyun-duyung menggunakan mesin pendingin.

Di Santiago del Estero dan di provinsi bagian utara lainnya suhu telah melonjak lebih dari 45 Celcius.
Para ahli meteorologi mengatakan serangan gelombang panas di wilayah tersebut merupakan yang terburuk semenjak kejadian pada tahun 1906.
Sebagian besar korban akibat cuaca ekstrim ini adalah warga yang tinggal di Santiago del Estero, yang terletak sekitar 1.100 kilometer dari ibu kota Buenos Aires.
