Pihak
berwenang kota Paris, Prancis, akan membongkar ratusan ribu gembok
simbol cinta yang ditempatkan oleh para wisatawan di pagar jembatan di
atas sungai Seine, mulai Senin (01/06)n
Sebagai gantinya, mereka
akan mengganti seluruh pagar jembatan -yang semula terbuat dari besi
berlubang- dengan semacam lembaran plastik kaca, sehingga wisatawan
tidak dapat menempatkan gembok.
Hal ini dilakukan untuk mencegah
jembatan bersejarah itu runtuh karena dibebani ribuan gembok tersebut
yang beratnya mencapai lima puluh ton, kata pihak berwenang Paris.
Selama
ini, pasangan yang datang dari berbagai penjuru dunia memasang gembok
sebagai simbol cinta di ruas pagar jembatan itu. Lalu, mereka membuang
kuncinya ke Sungai Seine yang mengalir di bawahnya.
Pada 2014 lalu, salah satu bagian dari pagar jembatan itu rusak karena
beban yang terlalu berat dan jatuh ke dasar sungai.
Warisan bersejarah
"Keberadaan
gembok ini merupakan bencana bagi jembatan ini," kata juru bicara Balai
kota Paris, Barbara Atlan. "Kita perlu melestarikan warisan bersejarah
ini."
Pont des Arts, di
sepanjang Sungai Seine di samping museum Louvre, dikenal luas di
kalangan turis. Mereka memasang gembok, kunci sepeda atau borgol, yang
ditulisi kata-kata cinta di atasnya.

sebuah jembatan dan membuang kunci gembok ke air di bawahnya.
Seorang
juru bicara dewan kota Paris mengatakan mereka telah mencabut 15 pagar
dari Pont des Arts, yang masing-masing menanggung hampir 500 kilogram
